About Danielle Bernstein

Hi, I’m Danielle Bernstein. Welcome to my corner of the internet. This is where I share outfit ideas you can really wear.

I have been styling outfits for over a decade. I started with a camera and a love for clothes. Today, I help women get dressed with ease.

Here is the belief behind everything I do: “Getting dressed should be the easiest part of your day.” It guides every post on this site.

Today, I am a founder, designer, and style creator. I lead WeWoreWhat and share my looks here. Most of all, I love helping you feel good in what you wear.

Where My Story Began

I grew up on Long Island, New York. I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember. New York was always my dream city.

I first studied retail at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Then I moved to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. I wanted to become a designer.

In 2011, I was a college sophomore. I started photographing street style and posting it online. That small project became WeWoreWhat.

I was blogging more than I was sitting in class. So I made a big choice. I left school to turn my blog into a real business.

From Blog to Brand

My blog grew fast. In 2012, Refinery29 called me the next big style blogger. That moment put me on the map.

Instagram changed everything. I turned the camera on myself and shared my own outfits. Soon, people everywhere were following along.

Brands began to call, and I worked with many of them. But I only promote what I believe in. Your trust matters to me.

In 2017, Forbes named me to its 30 Under 30 list for Art and Style. I was in my twenties. I felt proud and very grateful.

Building My Own Clothing Lines

In 2016, I launched Second Skin Overalls. It was my first clothing line. I wanted pieces that fit real women and felt fun.

Next came swimwear with Onia. Then I teamed up with Joe’s Jeans on a style called the Danielle Jean. We shot the campaign with real followers of many shapes and sizes.

In 2020, I brought everything together and launched Shop WeWoreWhat. It offered swim, denim, overalls, and later activewear.

That same year, I launched a namesake brand with Macy’s. Later, I moved it to my own site. I wanted more care over quality and customer service.

Giving Back

Style is fun, but community matters more. When COVID-19 began, I started WeGaveWhat. It became the giving arm of the brand.

We also made a coloring book with artist Sara Sidari. All proceeds went to the River Fund. It raised $10,000.

Growing Beyond Fashion

I like building things that help others. In 2019, I launched Moe Assist, a tech tool for influencers. I named it after my longtime assistant, Moe.

I also love design and home spaces. My SoHo loft was featured in Architectural Digest in 2021. Home style is part of how I see fashion.

A Big Moment on the Runway

In September 2024, I made my New York Fashion Week debut as a founder. We held a see-now, buy-now show in SoHo. Guests could shop the looks right away.

When I started, bloggers were not welcome at fashion week. Seeing that room full of guests meant so much. It showed how far we had come.

Growing Up, Still Me

My style has changed as I have grown. I still love a bold outfit and any reason to dress up. But now I think more about pieces I can wear again and again.

I also learned to keep some things private. I can share my happiness without sharing every detail. Some memories live in my camera roll, not on a feed.

My favorite line sums it up: “I’ve grown up, but I’m still me.” It guides how I dress and how I run my brand.

A New Chapter for WeWoreWhat

WeWoreWhat is now more than 15 years old. In 2026, I relaunched it with a fresh creative look. I also bought the brand back.

I want the brand to stand on its own. It should live beyond me and my audience. That is how a brand lasts.

This fall, WeWoreWhat Premium grew to 11 pieces. They are made with real suede, leather, and ponyhair. These are pieces you keep for years.

What You Will Find Here

Wears Geek is where I share outfit ideas for real life. Every look is simple to follow. You can copy it or make it your own.

You will find ideas for busy mornings, dinners, weddings, and parties. I also show how to mix pieces you already own. Good style does not need a huge closet.

Everyday Outfit Ideas

Most days, I want to feel comfy and look pulled together. My go-to is a plaid shirt, wide-leg jeans, and pointed boots. A big suede bag finishes the look.

Small extras make a big change. Try a printed scarf, a statement belt, or sleek sunglasses. These touches take two minutes and add a lot.

Night Out Looks

A night out is my favorite reason to dress up. I like to mix soft lace with sharp lines. A white corset mini under a long coat does exactly that.

Fishnet tights and pointed heels add edge. A tiny black bag keeps it fun. Try the same mix with colors you love.

Party and Glam Style

Some nights call for sparkle. A crystal jumpsuit with feather sleeves is made for those nights. Add shiny eye makeup and you are ready.

You do not need to dress this way every day. But it is fun to go bold now and then. Let the outfit be a little dream.

Dresses for Special Events

For weddings and dinners, I look for dresses with a story. A rich paisley print with ruffles moves beautifully as you walk. Pair it with drop earrings and a small bag.

Velvet is another favorite. A brown velvet gown with a sheer cape looks grand on a sunny lawn. Keep the jewelry simple and let the dress shine.

How I Build an Outfit

I start with one hero piece. It might be a bold coat, a great bag, or a statement dress. Everything else supports it.

Next, I think about the moment. Is it a work day, a dinner, or a wedding? The setting guides my choices.

Then I check comfort. If I cannot sit or move, the outfit does not work. A good look should feel easy.

Last, I add one small detail. It could be jewelry, a scarf, or a belt. That tiny touch makes it feel like me.

My Simple Style Rules

Over the years, I have learned a few things. These rules guide most of my outfits.

  • Buy pieces you will wear again and again.
  • Pick fit over trends.
  • Choose one star item and keep the rest simple.
  • Add one small detail for personality.
  • Wear what makes you feel like you.

What Inspires Me

New York inspires me every day. I see great style on the street, in cafes, and at events. That is where WeWoreWhat started.

I also love rich textures and warm colors. Think velvet, lace, suede, and leather. They make outfits feel timeless.

Travel, art, and good design inspire me too. A pretty room can spark an outfit idea.

My Promise to You

I will always share ideas that feel honest. I will not push things I do not believe in. You deserve real advice.

I will also keep some moments private. That balance helps me stay happy and keep this space fun.

Why Wears Geek?

I want getting dressed to feel fun, not stressful. Style is about how you feel in your clothes. When you feel good, it shows.

Every post here is built to give you ideas. Take what you like. Leave the rest.
